UAPB Basketball Looking to close Texas Trip on good note against Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX – After completing game one of their Texas tour on Saturday against Texas Southern, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff basketball teams will conclude their trip at Prairie View A&M on Monday at the William J. Nicks building.


The Lady Lions are coming off an impressive team victory over the Texas Southern Lady Tigers, 86-82.


In their victory over Texas Southern, a few notable performances made the win remarkable.


Zaay Green’s 22 points against Texas Southern moved her scoring average to 15 points per game. Green also averages six rebounds a game and five assists.


Joyce Kennerson’s 21-point, five rebounds, and three-assist game against TSU is expected to keep her energized against Prairie View A&M. Kennerson now averages 11 points and four rebounds per game.


Maya Peat established her dominance down low against Texas Southern with an impressive 13 points, grabbing a career-high of 21 rebounds, making her performance against TSU one of the most remarkable performances in UAPB women’s basketball history.


The Lady Lions will face a Lady Panther team coming off an 84-77 win over Mississippi Valley State.


Over on the men’s side, the Golden Lions are looking to bounce back after their 90-71 loss against Texas Southern.


Shawn Williams fell just shy of his career-high against Texas Southern with 30 points, shooting 52 percent from the field and 75 percent from the arch. Williams’ 15-point average will be vital against Prairie View A&M.


Dequan Morris will also bring his 11 points and three rebound averages to the table against PVAMU.


The Panthers are coming off an 84-82 loss to Mississippi Valley State.


The women’s game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m., and the men’s game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
