BIRMINGHAM, AL – Establishing his true point guard status on the floor by creating a team environment on the court and a floor general with his scoring abilities, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team point guard Shawn Williams has been named the SWAC Impact Player of the Week.
Williams came up big in the win over Alabama State, making multiple winning plays. Putting defenders on skates with step-back three-pointers, deep NBA range jumpers, and a variety of pull-up jump shots caused him to score 15 points in the 75-70 win over Alabama State, going 3-of-6 from the field.
With the same winning mentality, Williams got a lot of aggressive against Alabama A&M with 11 first-half points. Increasing his intensity in the second half, Williams had a hot hand with knocking down three huge three-pointers. Williams scored 28 points in the loss against Alabama A&M, with 17 points coming from the second half. Williams averaged 21.5 points with 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists on the week.
Catch Williams in action this weekend at H.O. Clemmons Arena in the rematch against Prairie View A&M at 5:30 p.m.
