STOCKTON, CA – In their last road game before returning home, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team fell to the Pacific Tigers with a final score of 74-50 on Friday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
Kylen Milton and Shawn Williams led the Golden Lions will 14 points apiece, with Williams shooting 66 percent from the perimeter. Milton also added four rebounds.
KShun Stokes added ten points of his own, shooting 50 percent from the field and behind the arch.
The Golden Lions went back and forth with the Tigers early on with a Brahm Harris three-pointer to bring UAPB within one before allowing Pacific to score ten straight points widen the Arkansas-Pine Bluff deficit to 11 points.
Two Williams three-pointers and a Stokes corner three cut the point spread, bringing the Golden Lions to only five points within the Tigers, but four consecutively missed jumpers and a turnover would allow Pacific to regain an 11-point lead over UAPB.
To close out the first-half, Milton would penetrate baseline for a step-back three-pointer from the corner and drain the shot while being fouled to make the four-point play for the Golden Lions but would still trail by nine points at the half with a score of 34-25.
The Golden Lions would try and fight back in the second half but would be outscored by Pacific 50-25 and allowed 25 second-chance points, 32 Pacific paint points, and 24 Tiger points off turnovers resulting in a loss with a final score of 74-50.
The Golden Lions will return home for their doubleheader home opener against Arkansas Baptist on Monday. Women’s will tip-off at 5:30, and the men’s will tip-off immediately after at 7 p.m. at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
