UAPB Men's Hoops Prepared to Hunt for a Win Against Wyoming

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

LARAMIE, WY – After taking two losses that the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff deserved to win, the Golden Lions will go hunt at the University of Wyoming, hungry for their first win of the season on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Loaded with talent, Arkansas-Pine Bluff currently has four players averaging in double figures along with other players doing damage in different areas on the floor.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Guard Shawn Williams runs the show for the Golden Lions and currently averages 21 points per game. Williams, a guy who can shoot the basketball well from anywhere on the floor, is coming off an impressive 26-point performance against Colorado State.

The long forward, Trey Sampson, averages 17.5 points per game and adds an average of seven rebounds. In the season opener, Sampson had a breakout game against Creighton with 29 points and ten rebounds – 20 of which came from the first half.

Coming off a 24-point performance with 15 first-half points, including a body caught at the rim against Colorado State, guard Kylen Milton is now averaging 15.5 points for the Golden Lions.

Forward Brandon Brown is a true hustler for the Golden Lions who is not afraid to get his hands dirty as he averages ten rebounds per game, snatching 14 rebounds in his Golden Lion debut. Brown also averages three assists per game along with 6.5 points per game, shooting 100-percent from the free-throw line through two games.

Guard Dequan Morris is a returner from last season who had a pretty solid season debut against Colorado State, scoring 10 points, making half of the shots he took along with four rebounds.

The Golden Lions will face a Wyoming team coming off an 85-47 win over Detroit Mercy, led by forward Graham Ike, who shot 58-percent from the field to score 22 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Being disciplined on defense and executing great offense will be Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s way to succeed over a good Wyoming team.

Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT and will be streamed on MW Network.
