UAPB Men's Hoops Prepares for Competition in Cerebro Sports Cali Jam

CALIFORNIA – Straight off a flight from Seattle, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team traveled to California to compete in two matchups in the Cerebro Sports Cali Jam – the University of California-Santa Barbara on Wednesday and the University of the Pacific on Friday.


Going into the Thanksgiving wrap-around jam, Shawn Williams leads the Golden Lions, averaging 18.2 points per game, shooting the rock .427 percent from the field.


Trey Sampson follows with 14 points per game, where he shoots 100 percent from the free-throw line. Sampson also adds 5.5 rebounds per game.


Brandon Brown will be a vital aspect for Arkansas-Pine Bluff as he averages 9.6 points per game but does his damage in the boards, snatching 10.4 rebounds per game. Brown is coming off an incredible 17-point, 17 rebound double-double against Seattle.


The Golden Lions will take on a California Santa Barbara team coming off an 81-50 win over Chicago State.


The Gauchos are led by Amadou Sow, who averages 21 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game.


Immediately after, the Golden Lions will travel to Stockton, California, to matchup with a Pacific team coming off a 74-58 win over Chicago State.


Pacific is led by Jeremiah Bailey, who averages 12.8 points per game, shooting the ball .464 percent from the field and 50 percent from the perimeter. Bailey also averages 5.7 rebounds per game.


The California Santa Barbara matchup is scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. CST at the UC Santa Barbara Events Center and can be streamed on ESPN+.


The Pacific game will also tip off at 7 p.m. CST at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The contest can be viewed on the WCC Network.
