UAPB Men's Hoops Set to Battle Defending National Champs #4 Baylor

WACO, TX – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team is back on the road, this time in Waco, Texas, looking to upset No. 4 Baylor on Saturday at the Ferrell Center.


Shawn Williams leads the Golden Lions basketball team, averaging 16 points per game, and adds 3.7 assists to his stat line. Williams is coming off a 21 point, five-assist game against Iowa State.


Trey Sampson is behind Williams, averaging 13.4 points with 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. In the recent matchup in his home state, Sampson put up 16 points and grabbed six boards.


Both Sampson and Williams shoot over .900 from the free-throw line.


Kylen Milton adds 12.7 buckets per game for the Golden Lions, where he picked up 13 points in the last matchup against Iowa State. Milton shot a perfect 7-7 from the foul line.


The 1-7 Golden Lions are coming off an 83-64 loss to No. 19 Iowa State, where they were only outscored by three points in the second half, 45-42.


Arkansas-Pine Bluff will match up with defending national champs and top-ranked No. 4 Baylor, who is 7-0 on the season and is coming off a 75-58 win over Michigan State in the Battle 4 Atlantis.


Baylor is led by LJ Cryer, who averages 14.7 points per game.


The game will tip-off at 4 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and BIG-12 now.
