UAPB Men's Hoops Set to Seek their First Win against Seattle

SEATTLE, WA – Hungry to get their first win of the season, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team will compete in their fifth non-conference game taking on Seattle University on Monday at the Climate Pledge Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.


Leading the team is Shawn Williams, who currently averages 18.8 points for the Golden Lions, shooting .426 percent from the field. Williams is coming off his impressive career-high 31-point performance against Portland.


In the post, Trey Sampson will be a vital aspect for the Golden Lions as he averages 14.7 points per game, shooting .444 percent from the field and also 100 percent from the free-throw line this season, going ten-for-ten. Sampson also averages 6.7 rebounds per game.


Kylen Milton is another crucial scoring aspect for the Golden Lions, averaging 13.3 points per game, knocking down .429 percent of his shots from the perimeter.


On the boards, Brandon Brown will continue to use his strength to grab every rebound he can grab. Brown does a great job of cleaning up the boards, grabbing 8.8 rebounds per game.


This will be the third time Arkansas-Pine Bluff will match up with Seattle. The Golden Lions defeated the Redhawks in their first visit back in 2015 with a final score of 58-56.


The Golden Lions are coming off a tough loss to Portland, where they fell to the Pilots with a final score of 86-74.


Arkansas-Pine Bluff will face a Seattle Redhawk team who is 3-1, defeating opponents including SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) foe Alcorn State in their season debut. Seattle is coming off a 93-80 victory over Morgan State.


The Redhawks are led by Cameron Tyson, who averages 16 points per game.


Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be listened to on KXSU 102.1 FM.
