UAPB Men's Hoops Take Tough Loss to No. 4 Baylor on the Road

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

WACO, TX – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's basketball team fell to No. 4 ranked Baylor on the road with a final score of – on Saturday evening at the Ferrell Center.

Brandon Brown led the Golden Lions on the stat sheet, scoring a fearless 19 points shooting the ball 72 percent from the field, and snatching six boards. Half of Brown's rebounds were offensive boards.

Shawn Williams added ten points and five assists for UAPB.

Kylen Milton followed up behind Williams with nine points and five rebounds.

With great energy to start with, showing that they were in the building to compete with a ranked team, Milton got things started with an aggressive two-handed jam from a fastbreak of two Baylor made free throws.

The Golden Lions would get a defensive stop in the next play, forcing a missed shot opportunity on the opposite end for Baylor. Trey Sampson came down and answered with a three-pointer from the wing to get a quick 5-2 lead over the Bears.

Baylor would respond with five buckets, running off with the lead in the first half and not looking back.

Brown collected 13 of his 19 points in the second half, leaving his heart on the floor, but it was not enough to make a comeback.

The Golden Lions scored nearly as many points in the paint against Baylor, scoring 36 points than the Bears' 38 points.

On Wednesday, the Golden Lions will return to their home court to take on in-state rival Arkansas State at H.O. Clemmons Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
