UAPB Cross Country Prepared to Record Winning Times at SWAC XC Championships

CLINTON, MS – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men's and women's cross-country programs will travel down to Clinton, MS, to compete in the 2021 SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) Cross Country Championship, which will take place on Monday at the Choctaw Running Trails.

The Golden Lions will seek to make history for the first time since 2018, with the men's team winning the SWAC Championship and UAPB head coach Christopher McCoy being named coach of the year following the championship.

The last time Arkansas-Pine Bluff competed in a SWAC championship was in 2019, before the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19. The men's finished fifth overall in the 8k run with 115 points, whereas the women's finished seventh overall in the 5k run with 159 points.

"I'm expecting some great performances tomorrow from the team and rise to the occasion," said McCoy about his performance expectations for the SWAC Championship.
