UAPB Cross Country Secure Medaling Spots at the Lois Davis Invitational

MAGNOLIA, AR – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff cross country team had a successful weekend at the 2021 Lois Davis Invitational.


The women's team placed in the top three in the women's 5000-meter run, falling short of just three points from second place. UAPB finished in third place with a total of 79 points.


Sophomore Zadie St. Louis finished in the highest place for UAPB. St. Louis would finish in sixth place with a time of 20:31.9 seconds, falling 1:16 short of a first-place victory. St. Louis would also contribute six points to the team's score total.


As for the men's side, the men's team clinched second place in the men's 8000-meter run, finishing with 57 points but falling short of first place by 37 points.


Junior Baron Freeman finished in third place with 26:30.4 seconds, falling 1:09.9 seconds behind from first place. Baron's average mile time was 5:20. Freeman added three points to the team total.


Freshman Terrance Johnson finished in fifth place, clocking 27:06.4 seconds with an average mile time of 5:27. Johnson added five points to the total.


"I was proud of how we performed, but we still have a lot to get better on, which will happen in practice," said UAPB head coach Christopher McCoy about his team's performance.


UAPB cross country will be back on the path at the Watson Collegiate XC Invitational in Clinton, MS, on October 9th.
