LITTLE ROCK, AR – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women's soccer team took their first loss of the season against Texas Southern with a final score of 2-0 Friday night at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex.
Coming off a two-game winning streak, the Lady Lions were looking to improve their winning streak to three games while also looking to acquire their first win in SWAC play against Texas Southern. With aggression coming from both teams, UAPB was able to feed off the energy from each other and also did their best to try and execute off of Texas Southern's mistakes.
UAPB had some great shot attempts from freshmen Tobi McCoy and Iyanah Hicks in both halves but just couldn't put the ball in the net. The Lady Lions attempted a total of 15 shots against Texas Southern.
"I thought we played really hard tonight and did some great things, we're just disappointed to leave empty handed", said first year head coach Erik Solberg about the loss to Texas Southern.
The Lady Lions are looking to bounce back on Sunday as they take on the defending SWAC champions, the Prairie View A&M Panthers at 10 a.m. at the Coleman Sports & Recreation Complex.
