UAPB Football a Force to be Reckoning with on the Defensive End

PINE BLUFF, AR – After a historical spring season, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football team is looking to have yet another destructive season on the defensive end of the ball.

With the season kicking off on September 4th against Lane College, practices have been super intense for the defense, assuring that no team gets past them this season.

Defensive back Paul Reeves is the true definition of you practice how you play by the way he gives his all in practice. Reeves will be a huge threat to any opponent who will line up across from him this season.

First Team Preseason All-SWAC Linebacker Kolby Watts will also be a huge component for the Golden Lions' defense with the leadership abilities he brings to the team and the domination he brings to the field.

"When your team is coach and player lead on and off the field, your guys have a chance of being great and that's what I love about our defense", said UAPB head coach Doc Gamble about the leadership from the defense.

Second Team Preseason All-SWAC Linebacker Isaac Peppers is also a guy who is a true competitor for the Golden Lions but has fun with the game which brings the best out of him and his game on the field. Peppers will bring the same dog onto the field as he did in the spring with more aggression added to his game.

Linebacker Rylan Woods has been showing off some great skill in the practices, showing signs that he can be a key player for the UAPB defense this season, bringing the pain with aggressive hits and tackles all season long. After switching from basketball to football, Woods is all-in this season and is willing to do what he can to help the Golden Lions reach their championship goal.

"We're looking at a defense that's hungry and that's going to fly around and make big plays", said UAPB defensive coordinator Jonathan Bradley about his vision on UAPB defense this season.

Coach Gamble and Coach Bradley's mindsets are both shaped around success for UAPB Football this 2021 season.
