UAPB Football Season Ends with a Tough Loss against Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, AL – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football played its last game against Alabama A&M but unfortunately fell to the Bulldogs in their final game of the season with a final score of 52 – 24 Saturday evening at Louis Crews Stadium.


QB Skyler Perry finished his last game of the season, throwing 220 passing yards at a 50 percent passing rate.


RB Kierre Crossley rushed for a net gain of 131 yards for the Golden Lions through 22 carries.


WR Tyrin Ralph finished his college career with 90 receiving yards through four receptions, including a long 42-yard reception.


DB's Nathan Steward and Monroe Beard III both finished with eight stops apiece for the Golden Lions on the defensive side of the ball.


Going scoreless in the first quarter, the Golden Lions found themselves trailing early to Alabama A&M by two touchdown possessions (14 – 0).


Arkansas-Pine Bluff started their drive with 1:45 left in the first quarter with Crossley rushing for 26 yards to the Bulldog 49-yard line for a first down, followed by a Perry keeper for 14 yards for another Golden Lion first down at the A&M 35-yard line for another first down. Perry then found WR Tyrin Ralph at the AAMU 17-yard line for 18 receiving yards and another first down, leaving the A&M defense with problems.


To start the second quarter off, Perry found Wilkes in the A&M endzone for 17-yards and a Golden Lion touchdown to bring the score to 14 – 7 for a scoring drive of 75 yards through seven plays.


The Golden Lions would do the same in their next scoring drive, rushing the ball eight times, with Crossley making his way into the AAMU endzone to bring the score to 21 – 14.


Alabama A&M scored two more touchdowns, causing the Golden Lions to trail to the Bulldogs at the half with a score of 35 – 17.


Arkansas-Pine Bluff would get the ball to begin the second half and would instantly turn to the rushing attack. Perry rushed for 54 yards through the entire scoring drive. With a third-and-one, Perry would rush the ball to the AAMU endzone for 30-yards for a touchdown to bring the Golden Lions to 24 to trail by nine points, but it was not enough in the comeback.
