UAPB Football Raises Intensity in High Temperatures

PINE BLUFF, AR -- As week two of training camp comes to an end, the Spring 2020-21 SWAC Western Division Champions are pumped about the start of the regular season beginning in 22 days, facing Lane College on September 4th with kickoff at 6 p.m. at Simmons Bank Field.

With temperatures flaring, UAPB head coach Doc Gamble has been taking advantage of the heat and applying the high temperatures to a high level of Golden Lion football.

"Our players have done a great job with adjusting to the weather conditions and using it to our advantage, allowing our players to fight off the fatigue", said Gamble. "Consistency is key and with the reps we've been putting in during these conditions, it'll pay off come September 4th."

FCS All-American Return Specialist Tyrin Ralph and SWAC All-Conference Wide Receiver Josh Wilkes have been doing a great job of using their leadership to help guide the Golden Lions in the right direction during training camp. Ralph and Wilkes are determined to lead UAPB back to the SWAC title game this season and both have a great understanding that the real work happens in practice and will be major assets for Golden Lion football this season.

"We're striving for perfection this season and are focusing on having a complete team and how we execute that is by the work we put in inside and outside of practice," said Ralph about the work ethic of the team.

Golden Lion football is preparing for media day on Sunday, August 15th at 2 p.m. to give their fans a glimpse of the inside of UAPB football. Media day will be closed to the public.
