HUNTSVILLE, AL – It's been a few months since May – a moment that will never leave the memory of Golden Lion nation but on Saturday at 1 p.m., the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff football team will get their rematch of the spring 2021 SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) Championship against Alabama A&M.
This will also be the last time our Golden Lion seniors will suit up in a UAPB jersey.
The Golden Lions seen the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in Jackson, Mississippi in the spring in what was supposed to be a Golden Lion championship but was upset by AAMU with a final score of 40 – 33, losing by a touchdown.
The Golden Lions are coming off a 37 – 7 loss against Florida A&M and are looking for redemption against the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M.
UAPB is led by QB Skyler Perry who currently has 1566 passing yards throughout the season.
RB Kierre Crossley continues to lead the Golden Lions in rushing yards with 350 yards.
WR Josh Wilkes still leads in receiving yards with 468 yards.
On the defensive end, DB Monroe Beard III leads the Golden Lions in two categories: tackles with 66 thus far and sacks, stopping quarterbacks around the nation five times this season.
DB Andre Fuller has three interceptions for the Golden Lions so far this season, including a game saving interception against Grambling State.
Alabama A&M is coming off a 52 – 49 win over Texas Southern last week.
The Bulldogs are led by QB Aqeel Glass whose thrown over 3118 passing yards through the season.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
